Back again
I'm back, yet again. As you may know, I had an issue with a domain squatter. I wanted my domain, illtron.com, they wanted $80. I told them good luck with that. I'm sure it'll be very profitable for them.
At any rate, when I switched over to illtron.net, I had all sorts of issues with old stuff still pointing to illtron.com. We couldn't figure out what the problem was, so we just deleted my entire account and rebuilt it from scratch on the server.
Naturally, I made sure to back up my site before I deleted everything. I took care of this one day during lunch at work. But there was a problem. The problem is that Windows and every program ever written for it is garbage.
CuteFTP, which I'm forced to use at work, decided not to download the contents of entire directories. Therefore, I lost all of my templates and index files. I exported all of my entries before I did any of this, and I still had my images from when I built the site. Everything generated by Movable Type was gone, and I didn't have the slightest clue until I was ready to start reassembling things. You'll probably notice some broken images and links for now, but things are mostly running, even if it is sort of plain.
So what's the holdup?
I would have gotten around to putting things back up sooner, but I was working on the Funk 'n' Gumbo site, which was a priority at the time. It's actually still unfinished. I lost a few things there too when I did my little experiment. I'm actually also halfway through a redesign of that already because the site that's up now was a really sort of a rush job, and I wasn't all that happy with it.
The Funk 'n' Gumbo site has taken a temporary backseat to A Week of Kindness (Warning: that link doesn't work as of Feb. 28). It's another volunteer job for Nate Kushner, Mike Still, Dan Hopper, and a few others from Penn State who started a sketch group in New York. This is even more of a rush because their first show is on Saturday. Yeah, tell me about it.
My real layout is currently being salvaged. It's mostly there, but I'll probably keep this default Movable Type template up until it's all fixed, seeing as how I have other priorities.
I'm going to leave comments open for a little while and pray that the spambots don't pay me a visit first. Keep it real.
